A Short Story on Self Confidence

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.

After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

“I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

A jobless man applied for the position of ‘office boy’ at a very big company.

The employer interviewed him, then a test: clean the floor.

“You are hired.” – the employer said. “Give me your email address, and I’ll send you the application to fill, as well as when you will start.”

The man replied, “I don’t have a computer, neither an email.”

“I’m sorry,” said the employer, “if you don’t have an email that means you do not exist. And who doesn’t exist, cannot have the job.”

The man left with no hope. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 USD in his pocket.

He then decided to go to the supermarket, bought a 10kg tomato crate, then sold the tomatoes door to door. In less than two hours, he succeeded and doubled his capital.

He repeated the operation 3 times and returned home with $60 USD. The man realized that he could survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and returned late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday. Shortly later, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

Five years later, the man’s company was one of the biggest food retailers. He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance.

He called an insurance broker and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email. The man replied: “I don’t have an email.”

The broker replied curiously, “You don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Do you imagine what you could have done if you had an email?”

The man paused for a while, and replied: “An office boy!”

Don’t be discouraged if something is not in your favor today. Better opportunities are waiting ahead.

प्राचीन काल की बात है | एक गांव में चार दोस्त रहते थे | चारों ही ब्राह्मण थे | साथ खाते, साथ पीते और साथ ही

रहते थे | तीन तो खूब पढ़े लिखे थे, मगर एक अनपढ़ ही था। हालाँकि वह बुद्धिमान भी बहुत था ।

मगर अनपढ़ होने के कारण उसके अन्य तीन मित्र उसका उपहास ही उड़ाते रहते थे, लेकिन दोस्त होने के कारण बात आई-गई हो जाती थी। और वे पुरानी बातें भूल कर फिर से बातें बनाने लगते।

एक दिन चारों बातें कर रहे थे। बातों ही बातों में बात निकली कि उन चारों में से सर्वाधिक बुद्धिमान कौन है? इस बात को लेकर जो बात बढ़ी तो बढ़ती ही चली गई।

अन्त में निश्चय हुआ कि वे चारों दूसरे राज्य में जाकर वहाँ के राजा को खुश करके जो धन लाएगा | वही उनमें से ज्यादा बुद्धिमान होगा।

यह निश्चय कर वे चारों दूसरे राज्य की ओर चल पड़े।

रास्ते में ये तीनों चौथे पर कोई ना कोई फिकरा छोड़ देते, मगर वह चौथा सिर्फ मुस्कुरा कर उनकी बात टाल देता।

दो दिन तक चलने के बाद चारों एक जंगल में पहुँचे। उन्होंने जंगल में कुछ देर ठहरने का निश्चय किया | मगर चौथा मित्र इस पर सहमत नहीं हुआ। वह बोला “दोस्तों, कुछ ही समय बाद अंधेरा हो जाएगा, अतः हमें शीघ्र से शीघ्र यहाँ से निकल चलना चाहिए।”

मगर उसके अन्य तीनों मित्रों ने उसका उपहास उड़ाकर उसे चुप कर दिया। तभी उनमें से एक की नजर किसी मृत जानवर पर पड़ी। वह अपने दूसरे मित्रों से बोला – “मित्रो देखो! कोई जीव यहाँ मृत अवस्था में पड़ा है, पता नहीं कौन-सा जीव है, क्योंकि इसका चमड़ा गल गया है, शक्ल पहचान में नहीं आती।”

तीनों मित्रों ने उस तरफ देखा जहाँ जानवर की हड्डियां पड़ी थीं। हड्डियों पर एक नजर डालने के बाद एक ने सुझाव दिया।

“क्यों नां हम अपनी विद्याओं की जाँच करें | राजा के पास पहुँचने से पहले ही यह जाच हो जाएगी कि हममें कौन बुद्धिमान और विद्वान है।” एक ने सलाह दी। अन्य तीनों ने उसकी सलाह मान ली।

एक अन्य ने कहा-“ठीक है, मैं इन हड्डियों को जोड़कर ढांचा तैयार कर देता हूँ।” कहकर झट उसने हड्डियाँ विद्या जोड़कर ढाँचा तैयार कर दिया।

तब दूसरे ने ढाँचे पर माँस, चमड़ीऔर नसों में खून पैदा कर दिया और पीछे हट गया। खाल-माँस चढ़ने पर ढाँचा शेर में परिवर्तित हो गया ।

इसी बीच चौथा जो अनपढ़ था, खामोशी से उनकी हरकतें व बातचीत सुनता रहा। उसने उनकी बातों में दखल देना अच्छा ना समझा |

इधर दूसरे के पीछे हट जाने के बाद तीसरा आगे आया और बोला – “तुमने इसकी हड्डियों को जोड़कर ढांचे में परिवर्तित कर दिया और तुमने उस ढाँचे पर खालमाँस चढ़ा दी, मगर किसी में जान फेंकना सबसे बड़ी विद्या है। जो मेरे पास है | अब देख, कैसे मैं इस जीव में जान डालता हूँ।” कहकर वह शेर में जान डालने के लिए आगे बढ़ा।

तभी चौथा व्यक्ति बोल उठा–“अरे ठहरो भैया!”

“क्यों क्या हुआ?” तीसरा झल्लाकर उसकी ओर घूमा।

“लगता है इसे डर लग रहा है।” दूसरा उपहासजनक स्वर में बोला।

“शेर से ।” पहले वाले ने शेर के पुतले की तरफ इशारा किया और तीनों हँस पड़े।

तीसरा बोला – “ओ मूर्ख! तू चुप रह, दोबारा मत बोलियो ।”

“मगर भैया, अगर यह शेर जीवित हो गया तो यह हम सबको खा जाएगा।” चौथे ने अपने मन की मंशा को प्रकट किया।

“चुप कर मूर्ख तू तो ज्ञान को ही बेकार कर देगा, मैं तो इसे जीवित करके ही रहूँगा ।” तीसरा घमण्ड में बोला।

तब चौथे ने सोचा कि ‘यह तो शेर को जीवित कियेP बिना बाज ना आएगा और शेर जीवित होते ही उन्हें मार डालेगा। ये तो मानेंगे नहीं, अतः वह अपना बचाव तो कर ले।’

यह सोचकर वह उन तीनों से बोला-“ठीक है भैया, जैसी तुम्हारी मर्जी, मगर जरा एक मिनट ठहर जाओ ।” कहकर वह एक पेड़ पर जा चढ़ा।

उसे पेड़ पर चढ़ते देख वे तीनों हंस पड़े। लेकिन उसने उन तीनों की हंसी को नजर अन्दाज कर दिया और पेड़ पर बैठ गया।

तब तीसरे विद्वान ने अपनी विद्या से शेर को जीवित करने के लिए मन्त्र पढ़कर शेर पर फेंके । कुछ ही पलों में शेर दहाड़ता उठ खड़ा हुआ। शेर ने अपने सामने तीन-तीन प्राणियों को देखा तो उसकी जीभ में पानी आ गया।

इधर जीवित शेर को देखते ही उन तीनों की हालत पतली हो गई। वे बहाँ से भागने की कोशिश करने लगे, मगर शेर ने उन्हें भागने का मौका नहीं दिया,

उसने एक को पंजे से मारा, दूसरे को धक्का देकर गिरा दिया और तीसरे को सीधे दाँतों से जकड़ लिया। और कुछ ही देर में तीनों को खा गया। फिर वह वहाँ से चला गया।

पेड़ पर बैठा चौथा ब्राह्मण नीचे उतरा और बोला-.“सबसे बड़ा बुद्धिमान कौन? वह जो अपने द्वारा जीवित किये गये शेर द्वारा मारे गये | क्या वो जो शेर का आहार बनने से बच गया ।” कहकर वह दूसरे राज्य के राजा को खुश करने चल दिया।

मित्रों! “यह जरूरी नहीं कि एक पढ़ा-लिखा व्यक्ति ही बुद्धिमान हो सकता है | अनपढ़-निरक्षर व्यक्ति भी किसी-न-किसी विद्या में निपुण होता है | जिस प्रकार एक अनपढ़ ब्राह्मण ने पेड़ पर चढ़कर अपनी जान बचा ली और उसके तीनों पढ़े-लिखे साथी शेर का आहार बन गए |”

Your Responsibilities:

  • They will be responsible for the health of all systems/environments and ensures all systems are being monitored/administered as required.
  • They will act as the Operations Point of Contact (POC) for all Critical Event Management.
  • They will be responsible for Ticket Management across multiple services/environments, requiring updating and resolution of service requests and Incidents while meeting response & resolution OLA/SLA’s.
  • The role requires oversight of Vendor Maintenance activities to ensure they are actively managed and completed as required.
  • They will provide guidance, support and backup responsibilities for Network Operations Center Monitoring Specialist resources (BCP).
  • They will  provide direct support escalation for initial triage and troubleshooting to the Monitoring Specialist and will work closely with various Stack support teams, including but not limited to; Engineering, various client facing teams, Product Development etc…, providing resolution/work-arounds for all systems and services globally while ensuring OLA’s/SLA’s are adhered to.
  • They must prioritize events and escalate as required while ensuring post event follow-up.
  • They actively participate in all incidents, Major Incidents and decision-making activities, as such; they must have good judgment and the ability to make sound business decisions while adhering to established policies.
  • They will act as the Technical Trainer/Mentor for Monitoring Specialist resources and new Associate Cloud Systems Engineer personnel, providing internal training sessions/cross-training in their area of expertise. This will also require them to work closely with the Documentation Specialist – submitting updates for Operational procedures and policies as needed.
  • Regularly perform 3rd level cross-trained tasks to bring capability into team in coordination the Stack support teams.
  • Perform basic incident triage, remediation activities and maintain compliance requirement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent IT job experience and training
  • Experiences in low-level configurations changes is an advantage.
  • Minimum  of 3-5 years of relevant IT experience
  • Application support experience – Tomcat, Apache, WebLogic, middleware admin, Redhat Active MQ, third party application servers
  • Proficient with Unix/Linux/Windows based OS, Networking (Cisco)
  • Ability to articulate clearly both in written and verbal communications
